Republican’s Climate Solution: Clear-Cut the Rain Forest

Dumb, dumber, and damn dangerous-

If he is so stupid he doesn’t know trees suck up carbon dioxide, not emit it, what about his views on the economy, medicine, national defense?

Has there ever been a time in America when science was held back so much by politicians who are avaricious fools?

‘Republicans for Environmental Protection’ – Endangered Species?

The word “conservation” and conservative are closely related, but there seems no room for conservationists in today’s radicalized Republican Party-

So-called “conservative” Republican activists are bent on tearing down protections for the land, water, wildlife, and human safety from toxic elements. Below the New York Times blog interviews the head of the group Republicans for Environmental Protection, which has for a time a least lost all of its clout among  tea-partyized Republican activists and elected officials.

After election, Republicans plan attack on EPA and climate scientists if they win the House

In the old Soviet Union, being a scientist was a dangerous thing unless discoveries upheld the Party’s ideology-

Doubt GOP will be put scientists in a gulag. They will just be investigated and badgered out of a job.

Senate Democrats advance climate bill without GOP

Republicans boycotted the committee vote, so the Democrats passed the bill without them, 10 to 1-

What the Democrats did is what you might expect, but in the past the Democrats have said, “Oh we need some bipartisanship,” when it is clear the minority at present wants nothing to do with bipartisanship.

I guess no one will be surprised by the one Democrat to vote against it — Montana’s nobleman senator Max Baucus.

So the climate bill will head to the floor of the Senate.

Hayes is finally confirmed to number two Interior Post

Some concessions to Robert Bennett (R-Utah) on oil and gas leases was needed-

Here is the story. Senate GOP releases hold on Interior nominee. Politico. Salazar probably had to agree to look into offering tghe oil and gas leases next to the national parks that the courts and he had killed. Grrrrr.

The New York Times has a story what this is really about — Senator Bennett’s political survival in a state where the Republican Party is increasingly “conservative”. The Utah Republican Party is generally controlled by people for which development is everything and the beauty of the state means nothing, and lately they have been getting kind of nutty.
