Wolf Recovery Coordinator Recalls the Call of the Wild – Roy Heberger – WWPblog

Before my retirement from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in July 2000, I directed the wolf recovery program in Idaho. The work was the most rewarding, challenging, frustrating and stressful experience of my 33 years with the FWS.

Enjoyed this article the first time I read it.

Roy does a great job making his thoughts known regarding wolf recovery (and forgive me if I’ve read too much into those words) but minds (pro & con) do need to come together and soon, and discuss reasonably…… the facts surrounding the wolf and its right to exist in areas that are still considered wilderness.
Areas that for too long have been exploited for profit (for just a few short months out of the year) by both ranchers and hunters who too often fail to recognize the benefits of having other predators around – big and small.
