Summer at the ski resorts: Congress must proceed very carefully with Udall’s bill

It appears that there is not really specific details as to what kind of development these resorts can proceed with and seems to allow for water parks and numerous other “suburban” style theme park facilities which conservationists object to on public lands, they have a valid point.

I admit that ski areas aren’t the most environmentally friendly use of our Forest Service lands but I’m glad we have alowed them to exist. As a commenter on the article stated, ski areas on federal lands = government welfare (in a sense). Yes I think we need to be careful about what we allow on public lands but a concrete sled run seems like a fine addition to any region. Why? It gets people out and about in the mountains. And this country certainly needs get our youth back into the mountains and nature. A sled run might be the spark needed for some kids to see what’s out there and maybe explore in a different way like hiking and nature watching. As far as a place like Bogus Basin in Idaho? I just cannot see a water park going in there. The water source just isn’t available.
