Thanks for the acknowledgment Ralph. Good news! I hope the young man that tried to help stop this with his fake bids will be exonerated also. He was only trying to help! I hope Salazar keeps up with this type of attitude. Now he needs to deal with Wyoming, Idaho and Montana wildlife issues.

  2. Rick Hammel Says:

So much for Salazar doing oil and gas bidding.

  3. JimT Says:

A step in the right direction. But don’t put Ken out of reach of oil and gas just yet. For weeks, there was chatter that the sale was tainted and it would have to be pulled and reconsidered because of the actions of the environmental bidder. When Salazar does something proactively with no other reason than for environmentally positive reasons, I will cheer his independence.

  4. Ken Cole Says:

    JimT,

There was also talk that the oil companies were afraid that this would happen so they wanted to keep the leases that they bought even though they paid a higher price for them due to Tim DeChristopher’s monkey wrenching.

I doubt that Salazar would put these leases back up for auction unless he really does want to make sure that the auctions are untarnished by the common folk.

I wish we could could Orrin Hatch out of there….

  6. BobCaesar Says:

Brooke – What’s an Oran Hatch? We might of had one at our bird feeder? Are they the one’s that just suck the oil out of a suet cake leaving only the dry and useless gunk?

  7. Ralph Maughan Says:

    Bob,

They are the hatch’s that pretend they can sing, but drive the other birds crazy and so secure the feed for themselves. 😉

  8. JimT Says:

    Sounds like cowbirds, Ralph..VBG.

Ken, they wouldn’t be able to split the lease process legally; if there was a problem in the process, then the leases are tainted despite the bidders’wishes. and Salazar did the right thing environmentally and procedurally. As to whether they come up or not, I would hazard a guess that Grijalva will be addressing legislation that way in the next few months…Whether it passes the Senate..who knows? But all he can do is to mind his own “House”…!S~!
