What’s it going to take? If it was one of us, how long would it have taken to find us guilty?

  2. Overlander Says:

Well, at least he didn’t really — ahem — get off. He can be retried because the jury didn’t reach a verdict. Whether the prosecution wants to try again, who knows? But some people on that jury apparently voted to convict.

Custer Co. justice prevails!! From what I have heard this case was open and shut with Gillett already having admitted on TV that he did exactly what he was accused of. Wouldn’t the judge have discretion to make a guilty ruling even if the jury seemingly ignored the evidence? Hey Mack Bray.

least he went to trial,,, Ted kenndy never saw a jury when he left girl to die in the river while he went to the hotel to sleep off the booze,,,, and he is a hero and worlld leader now (eyes rolling),,, just hope gillete isnt made into a folk hero like kennedy

Ted Kennedy was a lot more public, a slight bit more attractive, and from political royalty.
Life gets even..Kennedy is battling brain cancer, his regal and intellegent public persona will be reduced to a state of infancy before you know it. (I wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone, even murdering rapists get put to death more swiftly than cancer would allow.)
I would guess life has something hard in store for old boy Ron. I hope they retry him. Then he can be scrutinized again. What a farce.

“Ted kenndy never saw a jury when he left girl to die…”

Actually, he did; well, he saw the inside of the courtroom anyway. He pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crime. The prosecutor chose not to pursue the manslaughter charge.

Have to ask Kim, is this just another attempt to bash anyone liberal? If we’re talking about injustice and hypocrisy there’s plenty to go around on both sides of the aisle, and sadly, we needn’t look back as far as 1968. 😦 Here’s a 2006 Rolling Stone article that denotes the 109th Congress the “worst ever.” Be sure to take a look at their top (or bottom) 10. Unbelievably, Ted Stevens didn’t make it; which only shows you how many rotten apples there are to choose from!

  7. Monty Says:

It cost him a few $’s in that I assume he hired a lawyer? And the trial put his name in front of the “public” that would be a “negative” to most.

  8. Moose Says:

From the UP of Mich – Insurance companies are funding a lawsuit to prevent wolves from being hunted so that the wolves will continue to eat all the whitetails and insurnace co.s wouldn’t have to pay for so many deer-auto accidents.

I don’t know if you have seen the thread on rural legends. I wonder if this would qualify? RM

  9. Mike Says:

Kim – voting for Bush’s third term this fall?
